One season after winning the Stanley Cup championship, the Ducks are faced with myriad questions entering an offseason that arrived much earlier than anticipated—following an opening-round playoff loss to the Dallas Stars.

The biggest uncertainty for the Ducks appeared to be the future of general manager Brian Burke, who was expected to be pursued for the same position by the Toronto Maple Leafs. But the team announced April 23 that Burke will remain for at least the final year on his contract. Talks on a contract extension are continuing.
Right wing Corey Perry, the team's leading regular-season goal-scorer, stands to become a restricted free agent July 1, and the Ducks certainly don't want a repeat of how they lost left wing Dustin Penner to an Edmonton Oilers
